I'm not sure exactly what parts Century used for 922(r) compliance. There's plenty of US made furniture out there, and if you do change, I'd stick with US made stuff just to be safe. It probably has Century's HTS (hammer, trigger, sear) kit in it, which isn't one of the best out there, but it does count for 3 of your compliance parts. Get plenty of magazines and make sure they work. Overall, I think the FAL is a great platform just like it is. The stock sights on it could be better, but they're good enough. They have a no-gunsmithing scope mount that replaces the dustcover, giving you a picatinny rail to mount a scope or other optics with. They also have a couple of different rear sights. That said, the stock sights on the FAL, while not being quite as good as what's on, say, and M1 Garand, are serviceable enough. I can hit the rams (500 meters) from prone off the integral bipod on my STG-58 clone with the stock sights. Come to find out, my STG-58 clone is pretty close to dead on at 500 meters.with the rear sight on the 200 meter setting. I still have plenty of adjustment in the front sight, so I should be able to fix that.As far as any updates you might want to make, well, that's up to you. If it looks like two distinctly different feed ramps, you're fine.

If it looks like one feed ramp from one side to the other, you have a "unibrow", and you'll have to consult the guys over at the FAL Files to figure out how to fix it (they can be made to run, but I've never had to do it, whereas several guys over there have). If you're in doubt, run your finger over the feed ramp area. If you feel a bump in the middle, it should be fine. The second thing to worry about is that the angry monkeys at Century are notorious for putting things together crooked. It's sort of tough to do with an FAL, but it can be done if the barrel isn't indexed properly. It's really tough to get one together all the way if the barrel isn't indexed properly, but supposedly Century found a way. Century Arms International L1A1 How To Fix It Further, pulling the trigger again will not do anything (since the hammer has already been released). You may have gotten an excellent deal on a good rifle, a decent deal on a rifle that might need a little work, or you could have just paid $400 for a boat anchor. That's the problem with much of anything from Century.Century made two types of receivers. One was pretty much a copy of a regular receiver, and the other is known as the "unibrow" receiver. #CENTURY ARMS INTERNATIONAL L1A1 HOW TO FIX IT#.

I have done a web search and have only found a few copies here and there available as a pdf download, but the photos and diagrams are pretty fuzzy. (c) It is true that I should only feed this thing 7.62 x 51 ammo and should not use the 308 Win in it (different brass thickness and pressures)? I have already purchased about 180 rounds of 308 win thus far, and was wondering what exactly happens if 308 win is shot through it. (d) If the weapon is worth keeping then I'm wondering what else is recommended to update the weapon or make it better such as new sights or other accessories as well as any tips or recommendations in keeping it up and running smoothly?Geez, I guess that's enough questions for now. Sorry about that, but I am so very much excited about the thing and wanting to learn all I can.Safety selector markings and travel have no legal meaning. There are lots of semiauto FALs out there on which the selectors will swing happily right onto the "auto" setting. This is my first experience with a FAL and I really am quite stoked with it although I haven't fired the first round through it yet.Ĭentury Arms International L1A1 Update The WeaponSame goes for AKs - tons of them don't have selector stops, and the safety level will drop all the way to "auto".

But I will say that I have been studying up on firearms as much as I'm able, and for sure hanging around this forum has helped TREMENDOUSLY. You folks really are awesome!!!NO RESERVE Heres an earlier production Century Arms 'L1A1 Sporter' semi-automatic rifle. 308 Winchester/7.62 Nato, this rifle was built using an Argentine (FMAP) Type 3 receiver and mostly British (Enfield) military surplus parts.Anyway, my questions are this (a) Is this gun worth the money I spent on it or will it be one prone to much work to get it right. I have heard a lot of bad things about Century Arms Fal replicates.

But on the other hand, some not so bad too. PDF Downloads - Rifles: This page is broken into sections. Scroll to the bottom to view all available downloads. Visit our other sites for more downloads.
